We’ve had a wonderful and busy afternoon at Freemasons’ Hall for the SS18 model casting call. This year’s casting is the largest one in all of London Fashion Week. It was inspiring to see many returning models beside fresh faces. Attendance at the casting included agencies from all over the world, with models originating from Sweden, Uganda, New York and Somalia among many others. There were hundreds of models walking in front of our designers in the hope of being chosen to participate in their artistic showcases.
Stylist Rebekah Roy was in attendance to help aid the Ones To Watch in selecting their models. We spoke with Rebekah to hear what she thought of the day.
’Oh my god today is actually overwhelming. I think this year we have so many amazing models, but really really beautiful and strong models and this year we’re casting several men for the Ones to Watch and I think it’s going to be a really really exciting show. We’ve had models from Ghana, from Nigeria, from France, from all over the world so it’s pretty exciting.’
The Merit Award Winner EDDA saw hundreds of models in anticipation of her presentation on Saturday 16th September at 14:30.
“I’m very sure about what I want so it’s easier that way compared to the other years but still it’s like you get so many impressions and there’s so many girls coming in! It’s one thing if you’re doing a catwalk show but I’m doing a presentation so the energy and having a particular kind of personality must work really well for a presentation."
Francesco Rasola, the independent Italian pioneer, was at the casting prepared to find models to accompany his conceptual designs.
"This casting day was incredible. I think this was one of the biggest casts for the LFW. The level of the models was really very high. We have identified many really good models!"
Today was the first glimpse into the array of showcases that will take place at Fashion Scout during London Fashion Week, and we’re particularly excited to see the international designers present creative collections worn by beautiful models.
